We had a tremendous weekend at Virginia Tech with several school records, state qualifying marks, and competitive performances. This was easily one of the top Green Hope indoor track performances we have ever had, and is due in no small part to outstanding efforts from our athletes in a very high-profile meet.

For the boys, seniors Will Hulbert and Ryan Walling led the way. Will tied his outdoor PR of 13' in the pole vault, and took 5th place. Ryan continued his return to top form with an outstanding time of 4:28.81 in the invitational mile, good for 6th place.

The girls' 4x800 relay team of Mo McDonnell, Erica Amatori, Emily Boesch, and Shewit Weldense turned in a strong performance Friday night and dropped 14 seconds off our state seeding time for the event. The girls barely missed the school record in this event. Rayna Yvars achieved a new PR in the pole vault and improved her seeding height for the winter state meet. Olivia Enright later achieved a qualifying mark in the 3200 despite battling bronchitis. Saturday was a record-setting day for the girls' program. Mo took the track for the 1000m Saturday morning and destroyed the school record in that event by 12 seconds. Mo placed 5th among an extremely talented field of nationally competitive girls, and now ranks first in the state in this event and 6th all-time in North Carolina history. Cameron Inglis then took the track in the 300m and set another school record. Lauren Colberg turned in our highest placing of the weekend with a 3rd place finish in the 1600. Lauren qualified for states and set yet another school record. Finishing off the day for the girls was the 4x400 relay team, and finish off the day they did! Mo, Cameron, Monica Greene, and Maya Worth ran a blistering 4:04.63 to drop 12 seconds off the old school record. This is now the fastest girls' 4x400 in school history, indoors or outdoors. It also ranks as one of the better times in the state's indoor track history.
