Congratulations to all the athletes for an outstanding performance at yesterday's Marvin Ridge Invitational. Both the boys' and girls' teams came away with top-10 team finishes and we had several athletes establish regional-qualifying times.

Seniors Miles Brown and Jonathan Arias led the way for the boys, each grabbing an individual bronze medal as well as running on the winning 4x400 relay. Miles took 3rd in the 200, barely missing the regional qualifying mark. His time, however, ranks him as the 4th fastest in the event in school history. Jonathan took third in the 800 with a strong late surge and earned a spot at the regional meet. DeMario Williamsadded a 7th place finish in the same event, just missing the regional mark. Mahmoud Saad also just missed the regional mark in the 1600, but established a very strong new personal best time. In the final running event of the meet, Miles, Jonathan, DeMario, and Mahmoud ran an outstanding 4x400 relay to grab the gold medal and qualify for regionals. As a team, the boys ended up taking 6th.

The girls' took 3rd as a team, helped by two gold medal and meet record-setting performances early in the meet. In the first running event, the 4x800 relay team of Shewit Weldense, Claire Nobles, Jessie Rossabi, and Erica Amatori stormed to the lead and never looked back. The girls easily locked up a regional qualifying time and smashed the meet record. Rayna Yvars set new school and meet records in the pole vault en route to victory. Erica came back to take 2nd in the 1600 with an outdoor personal best and regional-qualifying time. Cassidey Sowards and Pauline Schwerbrock both added bronze medals in the discus throw and high jump respectively, while Emily Boesch and Jessie scored points in the 3200 and qualified for regionals.
