We had some strong performance's on a beautiful day yesterday at the Wake County Championships held at Sanderson High School.

On the boys' side, Alexander Lewitt was our top individual performer as he achieved the regional qualifying standard for the first time in the pole vault, jumping 12' to take 4th place. Tom Nobles ran a big PR of 9:57.79 to qualify for regionals and place 5th in the 3200. The group of Miles Brown, Jonathan Arias, DeMario Williams, and Mahmoud Saad took 4th in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays. Along with 4x400, the quartet is now qualified for the 4x800 at regionals. Miles also added a 5th place finish in the 400 meter dash.

The girls' team placed 6th overall, highlighted by two medal-winning performances. Mo McDonnell led wire-to-wire to win a stacked 800 meter race. Mo improved upon her regional qualifying time. Rayna Yvars placed 2nd in the pole vault, and also added a 4th place finish in the 100 hurdles. Her hurdle time was just off the school record she established earlier in the season. Shewit Weldense ran a big PR in the 1600 to take 4th overall, while Kristen Lospinoso also added a 4th place finish in the 3200 with a PR. Both girls qualified for regionals for the first time in those events. The 4x400 relay team of Mo, Erica Amatori, Cameron Inglis, and Rayna qualified for regionals with a 5th place finish.
