We had a group of athletes compete Friday night in a small invitational meet at Mt. Tabor HS in Winston-Salem. While the meet was a tune-up, we came away with some big performances.

Our boys in the mile were very competitive, with many setting new personal bests and all setting new season bests. Mahmoud Saad and Brad Pehr led the way as our first two finishers. Both qualified for regionals. Also setting new personal bests in the meet were milers Tom Nobles, Will Jordan, Ryan Hefner, Jonathan Bakley, Henry Pehr, and Corey Colberg; Kwabena Sarpong and Austin Jackson in the 200; Will Gao and Alex Bartell in the 400; and Ethan Sharma in the triple jump.

The girls were also strong in the mile, taking the first six places in the race. Mo McDonnell led the way, followed by five freshmen who all recorded new personal bests. Katie Tomasi, Kayla Hall, and Sheridan Wood all ran under the regional qualifying mark. The girls 4x100 relay team of Maya Worth, Rayna Yvars, Kristen McEnaney, and Danyel de Souza broke their own school record. Zoe Early set a new personal best in the pole vault and is now ranked 4th among freshmen in the US. Maya made her triple jump debut and qualified for regionals. Theresa Enright and Savannah Lips led a strong effort in the 3200 as they took the top two spots and ran under the regional qualifying mark. Taylor Howard also recorded a strong personal best in the 3200 and lowered her regional mark.
