News: 4A Mideast Regional Meet

Saturday, we had several athletes compete at the regional meet at Apex. 13 athletes qualified for competition next week at the state championship meet in Greenboro, including seven seniors who will cap off their high school track careers on the biggest stage.
The girls’ 4x800 relay team of Elisa Sargent, Katie Tomasi, Brantley Belk, and Elly Henes won the first event of the meet, recording a season best time. The boys’ 4x800 relay continued their outstanding season with another win, as the team of Jonathan Bakley, Will Jordan, Corey Colberg, and Brad Pehr also recorded a season best. Our third winner was Elly Henes, who took the gold medal in the 1600. Earning runner-up finishes were Elisa Sargent and Tay’Lore Moore in the 800 and shot put respectively. Also qualifying with 4th place finishes were:
- Kayla Hall in the 1600
- Will Jordan in the 800
- Theresa Enright in the 3200
- The 4x400 relay team of Will Jordan, Corey Colberg, Kendrell Jones, and Brad Pehr
- Ellen Emmerson in the pole vault.
