The Falcons wrapped up their 2014-15 indoor track season at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships. Green Hope was represented by 23 athletes in the final meet of the season at JDL in Winston-Salem.

The girls team finished 5th overall (24 points), finishing behind 2-time champion Winston-Salem Parkland, Cary, Apex, and Raleigh Leesville Road. Elly Henes led the Lady Falcons with her dramatic win in the 3200m. Elly out-kicked Caroline Yarbrough of Greensboro Page, who had led from the gun. Elly's 10:43.45 effort not only broke her own school record, but set a new 4A state meet record.

Elly also took 3rd in the 1600m, running 5:06.21. Katie Tomasi joined Elly on the podium for the 1600 with her 4th-place finish (5:20.35). Kayla Hall ran a PR 3:06.65 in the 1000m to place 6th overall, running away from the field in her heat.

The boys team finished 10th with 17 points using a mix of individual and relay scoring. Henry Pehr's 3rd place in the 1600 (4:30.21) was the top individual performance for the Falcons. The 4x200 relay of Austin Jackson, William Hoffmann, Trevor Chin, and Kwabena Sarpong also took 3rd with 1:34.14. Kwabena overtook several other teams at the line to help the team earn a podium finish.

William Hoffmann placed 7th in the 500m, running a PR 1:07.41 to improve on his GH sophomore class record. William also anchored the Falcon 4x400, teaming with Henry Pehr, Austin Jackson, and Kwabena Sarpong to finish 6th in the state.

Congratulations to all of Green Hope's state meet qualifiers -- and to all Falcon athletes on a great season.
