News: Falcons rise at Phoenix Classic

Green Hope competed at Elon University's Phoenix High School Classic on Saturday. The girls placed 3rd overall as a team, while the boys placed 6th.

Henry Pehr led the way for the boys with a first place finish in the 1600, also getting a regional qualifying mark. The boys 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams both placed 3rd. The 4x100 team of Austin Jackson, Trevor Chin, Blake Watson, and Javon Galloway set a new school record (44.15), while the 4x400 team of Will Hoffman, Trevor, Daimon Raper, and Austin notched a regional qualifying mark (3:28.10). Will added a runner-up finish in the 400 meter dash.

The girls earned a large portion of their team points in the 1600 where GH runners placed 1st, 2nd, and 4th overall. Senior captains Elisa Sargent and Theresa Enright took the top two spots, while Sarah Taylor was 4th. All three were under the regional mark and Elisa and Sarah both set new PR's. Seven girls have now hit the regional mark for the 1600! The girls 4x800 relay team of Kayla Hall, Katie Tomasi, Lindsey Eastwood, and Emily Jordan coasted to a 1st place finish and a regional mark. Morgan Adams added a 2nd place finish in the 3200, also getting a regional mark.
