We had 23 athletes make the trip to Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Premier High School Invitational. This meet is traditionally one of the more competitive indoor meets in the country, with the banked track producing very fast times.

On Friday night, Kayla Foy started what would end up being an onslaught on the school record book by breaking her own record in the 55m dash. The girls 4x800 relay team of Lindsey Eastwood, Katie Tomasi, Emily Jordan, and Alessandra Rodriguez placed 6th, running a season best time and improving their state-leading mark. The boys then took the track and won a thrilling race while setting a new school record. The team consisted of Brian Huitt, Henry Pehr, Finn McBride, and Jayquan Williams. Elly Henes set our 3rd school record of the night by winning a 3200 race that came down to the wire. She edged out two-time Foot Locker All American Libby Davidson of E.C. Glass (Virginia) for the win.

Saturday's races began with the 4x200 relay. Both our girls and boys teams set new school records. The girls team consisted of Carmen Curtis, Allison Williams, Natalie Richards, and Kayla Foy. Blake Watson, Trevor Losito, Sohum Singh, and Will Hoffmann ran for the boys. In the girls 500, both Allison and Lindsey set new PRs and put themselves in the top two positions respectively of the all-time school list for their event. Will just missed the school mark in the 500, but did establish a new state-leading mark while placing 3rd in the event. Alessandra set a new PR in the 1600 en route to the #3 time in the country among freshmen. Henry blazed to a new school record in the 1600 and the top time in the state this season. The day finished up with the 4x400m relay in which our boys team of Will, Henry, Blake, and Jayquan placed 4th, set a new school record, and set a new #1 mark in the state this season. Yes, our boys lead the state in all three relay events!
