The Green Hope Falcons concluded its 2015-2016 indoor track season this past weekend. It was a historic day for our program as the boys took home the state championship and the girls placed second!

Jayquan Williams led the way for the boys, running a leg on the 2nd-place 4x800 relay, winning the state title in the 1000m, and running a leg on the winning 4x400m relay. Other individual medalists for the boys included Will Hoffmann who placed 2nd in the 500 and Henry Pehr who took 4th in the 1600.

All three boys relay teams placed in the top two in the state championship meet. Joining Jayquan on the 4x800m relay were Henry, Brian Huitt, and Finn McBride. Will Hoffmann ran on the 4x200m along with Blake Watson, Trevor Losito, and Sohum Singh. The winning 4x400m relay team consisted of Will, Henry, Blake, and Jayquan.

The boys beat runner-up Mt. Tabor, 49-41.

Elly Henes led the girls’ efforts, placing 2nd in the 1600m, 1000m, and 3200m runs. For her efforts, Elly was named outstanding athlete of the meet. Elly also anchored the 2nd place 4x800m relay team with Emily Jordan, Katie Tomasi, and Sarah Taylor. Two other girls earned individual medals. Kayla Foy smashed her own school record (7.17) en route to a 4th place finish in the 55 meter dash. Alessandra Rodriguez placed 4th in the 1600 meters.

The girls finished second to Southeast Raleigh, 79-48.

For the boys, the title represents the first state championship for Green Hope in track. The girls equaled the best finish of any Lady Falcon track team. Congratulations to the Falcons!
