The Falcons competed in their first invitational meet of the outdoor season this weekend at the Carolina Relays at UNC. The girls took home the team trophy (based on relay team performance) on the strength of three relay wins and a runner-up finish in one other race. The 4x100, 4x800, and distance medley teams all recorded dominant wins, with the 4x100 team of Paige West, Carmen Curtis, Mary Newby, and Kayla Foy setting a new school record. Kayla also set a new school record in the 100 dash while Mary set a new school record in the long jump. Payton Smith picked up a win in the discus.

The boys picked up wins in the 4x800 and 4x1600 relays, while taking 2nd in the distance medley. Henry Pehr won the mile while Mike Renard won the shot put and discus. The 4x800 relay team of Matthew Kehn, Henry Pehr, Ian Delgado, and Jayquan Williams set a US #1 mark of 7:53 for the outdoor season. It was a strong start to what looks to be a promising season for the guys mid-distance group.
