A total of eleven Falcon athletes competed at the 124th Penn Relays, an iconic meet held at the University of Pennsylvania that draws top high school, collegiate, and post-collegiate athletes. After a week of hype and fanfare, the Falcons had high expectations for top performances.

The girls 4x400m relay team of Lily Redick, Taylor Brown, Jordyn Parks, and Lindsey Eastwood started the competition for the Falcon contingent. The foursome finished 5th in their heat in a seasons-best 4:02.26 (with an overall finish of 71st out of 611 teams that competed).

Peyton Barish represented Green Hope in the individual boys 3000m. Peyton placed 18th in a loaded field, and his 8:43.37 set a new school record. Fellow senior Benjamin Trubey was the only field event participant for the Falcons, also placing 18th in the triple jump (44-3.25).

The boys 4x800 relay team had another memorable weekend, starting on Friday morning in the preliminaries. Michael Biddle, Sean Petersen, Matthew Kehn, and Ares Epps combined for a 7:49.54, which was good for second in the heat behind Jamaica College (Kingston, JAM). The time qualified the boys to the Championship of America final on Saturday.

In the final, the boys competed against teams from Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia, as well as three teams from Jamaica. In one of the fastest high school 4x800m relay races ever, the Green Hope team of Ares Epps, Sean Petersen, Matthew Kehn, and Ian Delgado finished fourth overall — and the top American team. Their 7:39.29 time ranks as current US #1, while the top three teams from Jamaica ran an other-worldly 7:26.09, 7:27.54, and 7:32.32.

Congratulations to all of the Falcon athletes who went to Penn on competing and representing Green Hope extremely well.
