The Falcons had their first meet of the season at home on Wednesday, April 28th against the Imps of Cary High School. After over a year away from Track and Field it was great to see the team's hard work start to pay off.

There were several first place finishes for the Falcons. Silvia Bah took first in both the 100m and 200m. Toria Roundtree threw a new PR in the dicus and also placed first in the shot put. Polyna Uzun won the pole vault while Natalie Tomanska high jumped for the first time. Arshia Haq ran a PR in the 400m to take first and Kaela Brandon competed in her first 800, running a competitive time. Sophomore Grace Boughton won the 1600, breaking 6:00 for the first time. The girls' relays also put forth a great beginning of the season effort! Congratulations ladies. The girls team defeated Cary 67-21.

On the boys' side, Jack Marchiando was the first Falcon to qualify for Regionals this season! Jack cleared 12 feet in the pole vault. Senior Derek Bereda competed in his first track meet ever and took first in the 100m. The boys' 4x800 team set a strong first mark, falling short of qualifying by just over 2 seconds. Senior Robert Conroy threw over 100 feet for the first time to take first in the dicus. Jacob Kurak ran a PR in the 800m for first place. Sophomore Gavin Hansen ran a strong 3200m to take first place with a significant gap over the rest of the field. Also, junior Nathan Herrick broke the elusive 5:00 barrier in the 1600m! Green Hope lost a close meet to the Imps 54-57.

The Falcons will be back in action next Wednesday to Fight for 55 against the Panther Creek Catamounts.
